A residential tower in Dubai. The goal of the client was to create a new type of residential building to disrupt stagnant architectural trends in the local market. Our proposal was to look back at the architectural roots of the region prior to its convoluted evolution in the past 30 years. Before Dubai experienced the intense flux of Western architectural influence it flourished with authentic, regional, spatial design. Traditional structures maintain a highly sophisticated level of resolution in their spatial planning and architectural expression due to honest and necessary reactions to the intense context. This tower reflects these rich architectural qualities of the region while evoking a contemporary lifestyle, to usher in a new image of Dubai in a very necessary moment.
